Discover Loom Weaving!

About the event
You’ll learn about looms and how they work using a 4 shaft table loom that’s all set up. Learn to wind a bobbin and throw a shuttle. Create cloth using a few basic weave structures. Play with different colors and textures as you learn the basics of weaving. You’ll take home the cloth you weave!
What to bring:
All equipment and supplies will be provided.
If you have bits of yarn you’d like to use, bring it along but you don’t have to buy anything.
Pen/pencil for note taking
Water or a beverage for the day
Instructor Bios:
Jill Cohen lives in Mt. View and has been weaving for more than ten years. She mainly weaves functional household items such as towels, placemats, napkins and runners with the occasional foray into wearables.
Hilo resident Jo Hittner has been weaving for about 15 years. She prefers practical projects that can be sold or given as gifts. She enjoys learning new techniques that challenge her skills. Her background is teaching all age levels, from first graders to advanced university degrees. She is excited to be tdaching weaving to people new to the hobby.
This class is free. Online registration is required and open to adults from age 18.
